Meet Theresa!
I am the founder, brand architect and design educator at Wilmot Designs, LLC.
I decided early on that I wanted to be two things: an artist and a mom. Being both goal-oriented and nurturing, I have made both dreams a reality.
I love the creative process but I'm not the messy artist type, which made graphic design a perfect fit. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, I applied my creative talents in packaging design, theatre playbill publication, and textile design as a hat designer. As a creative director, I direct the vision and creative implementation of a variety of projects for clients.
I also really enjoy connecting with and learning from other business owners. I belong to a few really great networking groups - I’m always happy to share if you’re interested!
When my mouse stops clicking, you can find me with my husband and two daughters…and most likely a glass of red wine and dark chocolate!

CREATIVE HOURS
The work below are examples of what past students brought to the Creative Hours sessions. I did not do the work - this is what they did with both my feedback and that of the collective group.
BEFORE + AFTER
Theresa’s Notes:
Sandra Beatty came to DIY: Design it Yourself with a color palette that wasn’t quite the right one for her demographic - Home Service Businesses - we not only updated that part of her brand, she was able to update her website layout and Linkin banners to follow suit! She is a magician at website strategy and creating copy that converts your visitors to customer! Learn more about her here!
BEFORE + AFTER
Theresa’s Notes:
Marianne Guinee Jackson came to DIY: Design it Yourself with a couple projects in mind. This business card was one we resolved in a session of Creative Hours! She has a couple different arms of her business - how do you convey those on a business card in a clear and concise way? I think we did a great job of improving!
BEFORE + AFTER
Theresa’s Notes:
Lisa Workman (The Medfit Movement Studio) came to DIY: Design it Yourself with a couple projects in mind - and walked away with both finished! This one is an infographic-style piece that communicates the different areas of her business. We added in some of her other brand colors to give each some differentiation and made the names for each a little larger - adding more contrast and allowing them to stand out a little better. The “spokes” of the wheel stayed dark blue to emphasize that each of the entities is connected to the “whole” in the center.
BEFORE + AFTER
Theresa’s Notes: With some minor adjustment, we were able to make this sales sheet easier to read and quickly take in the information. You learn the principles, and in Creative Hours I show you how to implement them into your piece!
BEFORE + AFTER
Theresa’s Notes: Small tweaks were made to the layout of this piece for the She Boss Cafe - and in this Creative Hours call we had a talented writer that weighed in on copy - teamwork always makes the DREAM WORK! The magic happens in our calls!

Inconsistent or unappealing visuals lead to fewer clicks, fewer leads, and, ultimately, fewer sales. Can you afford to keep your visuals in the “blah” zone?
This is your chance to take your brand from “meh” to magnetic. You have a story to tell, and with the right design skills, you’ll ensure it’s seen, remembered, and respected.
